My WDTV Live used to recognize my WD My Book 500GB without any problems. After a firmware update some months ago, WDTV Live won't see it anymore. For a long time I just dealt with it, and streamed my video via the network. However, it still annoys me (and I now many others have this problem too).

So what I did was downgrading the firmware from 1.06.15_V, back to 1.01.17. And voila, the drive appears again in the menu. But I want my WDTV Live to be a more up to date.

Can anyone provide me a solution for this problem? Maybe a custom firmware that works fine? Formatting my HD again is no option, I don't want to loose all data on it.

    Thanks!

I wonder why WD's players seem to have so many issues with their own drives? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Unfortunately, I can't tell you for sure whether WDLXTV will help or not, but certainly there's no harm in trying, and you can always revert. If you want to stick with official FW, I believe this might be your only solution, though you've already said it's not an option.
