Hi
I've seen a couble of other threads about this issue, but no solutions. The thing is, when I play avi files, they won't stop, when I press the "Stop" button (or "Pause"). I can the go back, and I will return to list menu, of the folder, but the soud keeps on going, even if I start another file, the "time-circle" keeps turning, and the first file are playing in the back, and the file never starts. I have a WDTVLive - FW: 1.04.31 Streaming fra a NAS - QNAP: TS 439 Pro II+ - FW: 3.4.2 Build 0331T What I've tried; downgraded both units one and two Firmware versions back, but, no luck. - all other streamings are fine - MKV ISO an so on - but not, avi's. So please, what do I do ? Thanx a lot. /SGP |

Does it behave the same way if you play the same files from a directly attached USB drive?

Now I've triede play one of the same files from a USB, same thing, the avi-file does not stop playing. Audio keeps going, even when pressing Stop, and it's going back to file llist.
Actualy thew same thing happens when playing from Youtube, when plays a Youtube movie, I can play one and that's it, next one I trie to just gives me the "time cirkle" I have to say, I'm very disapointed about this media-player. Hope someone, can give me the top hint to solve this... maybe I schould have listened to a friend and bought a Popcorn Hour :-/ Thanx /SGP |

well if you'd prefer it, by all means go get a popcorn hour, you will find no one here trying to sway you either way.

Since you've already tried downgrading the FW and presumably a hard reset as well, I suggest you contact Support and see what they have to say about it. They may ask you to RMA it since it may be a hardware issue. Certainly my player does no such thing.

my player did that once, it was an issue with a time server and settings.
since the OP doesn't appear to be running any version of WDLXTV I doubt the same fix applies to them. sounds like a possible issue with the AVI files themselves.. have you run mediainfo on them to see what they are and if indeed they are the problem? |

I would like to say, I chose this over Popcorn for many reasons, mainly for the user interface, and the ability to play every format, so it applies to me the most.
But I also see now, a lot people having a lot of issues with media player (WD TV Live). I have got this problem with all the avi-files I have tried to play - about 15-20 different ones, short and long ones. Offcourse would like to keep it, but You get a bit frustrated, when You get a new "toy" and it fails do do what it should. Rev Drew: What do You mean by this: "my player did that once, it was an issue with a time server and settings. since the OP doesn't appear to be running any version of WDLXTV I doubt the same fix applies to them." ? Thanx all /SGP |

He meant that he had WDLXTV custom FW installed, whereas you have official FW and so it can't be the same problem. If not a single AVI obtained from various sources can be played and stopped properly, I would blame the player more than the files. Surely all of them can't be bad.
P.S. Running MediaInfo on them and confirming that they are Xvid/DivX AVIs with supported audio codecs is a good idea nevertheless. |

Not an encoding expert, so it looks fine to me (Xvid AVI with MP3 audio). Try unpacking the bitstream using MPEG4 Modifier and see if that helps.

Hi I tried this - but it made no difference :-( And I even upgraded the FW, with the on that are out today... I'm really lost here, because I can't believe this would be a hardware problem ?! /SGP |

How come there are so many issues with the last few fw updates ? I can see in the fw threads that there are severel issues.... /SGP |

I'm using the beta WDLXTV based on 1.05.04 and it is rock solid, live and live plus are both working better than ever.
it should work fine for you, I have noticed no bugs or problems with this test release which is a souped up 1.05.04 |
