I've searched all over the net, but couldn't find anyone with a similar problem. I have 2 shared folders in my MyBook NAS (the blue rings edition - Firmware 02.00.18). One is public and the other, password protected. From my laptop (Windows 7) I see both and log in to the protected one without problems. From my WDTV Live I cannot see the password protected folder, just the public one. It does find the NAS, but not the folder inside it. I've tried leaving a single pass protected folder, but when I choose the NAS in WDTV it just says there is no media in the current folder (without even requesting login info).

All mentioned devices are wired to an Asus router. I have no network issues.

Appreciate your help to track this problem.

    Regards.

It may simply be that the Live's firmware doesn't support password protected folders, even on WD's own NAS products. Unfortunately, if you own this player model then new firmware is pretty much never gonna be released for it, but you can try asking Support and see what they have to say about it.

Thanks, WDUser. I'll follow your hint and write to WD Support. It does look like a compatibility issue on the WDTV media centers with pass protected folders.

    Regards.

If it's not too much of a problem, can you post a follow-up query and ask whether this feature is or ever will be supported by the newer models (for which FW updates are still being released), such as the Live Hub or Live SMP? After all, these are their own NAS devices, so it should be very much possible for them to add support for this feature.
