My WD notified me of the firmware update. After a successful update my WD device was no longer able to read the content of my playon software. I used my sons boxing that had not had the firmware update yet and it works fine with playon. Is there a way to downgrade the firmware? or will you be addressing this issue in the latest firmware update?
Thanks, Paul |

I had the same problem, new fw killed PlayOn. I was able to rollback using the instructions in this thread...

Yep, as mentioned above, the latest so-called 'stable' firmware release v1.04.10 seems to have killed PlayOn on both the Live and Live Plus. The Tutorials section also has a topic on how to downgrade FW.
P.S. "We" won't be addressing anything, since this is WD's mess. This site isn't affiliated with WD in any way. |

Has this been resolved since the new FW versions from WD? Also, what CODECS are recommended on the Media Server?
Thank you, Paul |

What files are you trying to serve to the WD via PlayOn that it cannot play by itself directly? All transcoding causes quality loss, so why do it when not required?
P.S. Regarding newer FW versions, since 1.04.17 was withdrawn and 1.04.18 is still in beta, 1.04.10 remains the latest stable version available for this model. |
