I have a number of AVI files that start almost in sync as the playback begins but eventually as the file plays it audio track is seconds behind the video track. Can't seem to find any method of syncing the two tracks. Is there some way of doing this within the wd media player. The files are stored in a wd external drive.
Thanks for assistance in advance. Sparks |

Is the file itself unsynchronized? Does the same happen on a PC? If so, then you'll have to fix the file, since the player can't do it on the fly. Head over to a site like videohelp.com if you want to know how to fix your files.

ok I'm sure by now you have resolved this issue but for everyone else out there that is looking at this post hoping for an answer...Check the audio codec used in the avi container if it is ogg or vorbis (they're the same thing) the live plus doesn't seem to play nicely with it even thought it should because it is clearly stated on the box to be compatible with ogm containers and vorbis is the standard audio stream for ogm containers, and no ogm with vorbis in them don't work any better I think it is false advertising and i'm pretty upset with WD about this because ogm support was one of the selling points to me because i have a bunch of old ogm files from before mkv was released and i dint want to have to do any reencoding but any way here is the remedy... extract the audio out of the container I've just been muxing over to mkv with mkv merge and extracting from there with mkv extract but i just am trying to keep down the number of programs on my computer. then convert from ogg to ac3 or acc or what ever supported audio type you like then go ahead and mux the new audio file into the mkv i have been excluding the vorbis track but that is just personal preferance. as a note one of the easiest ways to tell if this is your problem is a really irritating crackling noise during play back on the live plus, hope this helps others out there.

Hey guys,
I have the exact same problem as the OP and figured there's no need for a new thread. Until now all of my files, be it AVI, MKV, MPG, etc, have all worked without any sync issues. However, this particular group of AVIs (Remington Steele Season 2, haven't tried other seasons yet) all start off in sync, then get progressively worse as the episode goes on. Even if I press fast forward and next 3 times to skip to the 30 minute mark of the episode, it is still just as out of sync as if I were to watch those 30 minutes. I ran it through mediainfo: CODE General Complete name : J:\Movies\Remington Steele\Season 2\S2E05 - Steele Framed.avi Format : AVI Format/Info : Audio Video Interleave File size : 442 MiB Duration : 48mn 34s Overall bit rate : 1 272 Kbps Movie name : S2E5 - Steele Framed Writing application : Lavf51.17.0 Writing library : VirtualDub build 28346/release Video ID : 0 Format : MPEG-4 Visual Format profile : Simple@L1 Format settings, BVOP : No Format settings, QPel : No Format settings, GMC : No warppoints Format settings, Matrix : Default (H.263) Codec ID : DIVX Codec ID/Info : Project Mayo Codec ID/Hint : DivX 4 Duration : 48mn 34s Bit rate : 1 134 Kbps Width : 480 pixels Height : 360 pixels Display aspect ratio : 4:3 Frame rate : 23.159 fps Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 8 bits Scan type : Progressive Compression mode : Lossy Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.283 Stream size : 394 MiB (89%) Writing library : Lavc51.47.0 Audio ID : 1 Format : MPEG Audio Format version : Version 1 Format profile : Layer 3 Mode : Joint stereo Mode extension : MS Stereo Codec ID : 55 Codec ID/Hint : MP3 Duration : 48mn 34s Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 128 Kbps Channel(s) : 2 channels Sampling rate : 44.1 KHz Compression mode : Lossy Stream size : 44.5 MiB (10%) Alignment : Split accross interleaves Interleave, duration : 43 ms (1.00 video frame) Interleave, preload duration : 500 ms Writing library : LAME3.97 Any help is much appreciated. Cheers Edit: Also I should mention that these files all are perfectly in sync on my PC and when I stream them wirelessly to my LG Blu Ray player. |
