Having connected my WDTV Live box to my internal cabled network and to my TV, I was all set to sit baclk and iew all my digital photos on the big screen. But, I only see a limited selection of my jpegs on the TV. I can see the folders and even the tags (great feature) but when I click on (most of) my files I get a "file format not supported" message. When I look at a list of fles in my folders I see the file name. For most of my files there is no other info, but for some files (those that I can view !!) there is also an indication of the size of the file. DSCnnnnn / 2.34 MB/

I have/had a variety of cameras (Dynax SLR, 3 Sony compacts and just recently a Nikon D700). It looks like I can alwas read the older camea files but the newer ones don't seem to have the extra infor which means that I can read the files.

I use a PC and Adode PSE 8 to download and edit the files from my cameras

    Thanks for any help

    according to the manual:

    QUOTE
Photo - JPEG, GIF, TIF/TIFF, BMP, PNG

Compressed RGB JPEG formats only and progressive JPEG up to 2048x2048.
    Single layer TIFF files only.
    Uncompressed BMP only.

if you've played with PS8 on them you may have made them unreadable to the player.
best bet is to take a lot of pictures, use windows explorer to get them to a drive and try to view them, it that works then you know it's something with PS.

I also think that PSE8 is adding some blocking metadata to the files. But I have now taken the unreadable files on a USB pen-drive and connected it locally to my WDTV Live box - surprise surprise everything is fine and I can see the photos with no problem - any ideas ??

unfortunately no.. I am one of the few who wish they would remove picture support so they can make it better at videos..
I do not use it for pictures at all, perhaps someone who does may have an answer for you.
