    Hi,
    Semi-noob.

I've had custom backgrounds for AGES, but for some reason they now only work from my small flash drive. If I copy the s00custom-options file and the pictures (background and screen saver) from the flash drive and place them on the root of one of my 3x 2TB drives, all I get is the blue wood background.

    Odd.

I have 3x 2tb WD Elements drives attached through a USB hub. and obviously b-rad's 0.5.8.1 firmware.

I have downgraded, re-upgraded the firmware, tried different drives, tried connecting one directly bypassing the hub and no joy.

But I plug in the flash drive with EXACTLY THE SAME 3 FILES and voila.

It's not a major problem, but it's been torturing me for weeks.

(I've got 2x v1 WDTVs and the same thing has happened on both, on the second WDTV it doesn't recognise the background from a 500gb WD Passport Drive). I have 1 WDTV Live that I've just sorted the USB Power Off glitch, but for the life of me cannot figure this glitch out.

The only thing that I recall changing was going from 2x 2tb and 2x 1tb drives, to 3x 2tb drives. It definitely worked when on one of the 1tb drives.

And secondly - Does anyone know why sometimes after I reboot my v1 WDTV, my folder list displays an additional duplicated drive; displayed once as the Drive name (eg Sci-Fi) and then again as USB1. On other occasions only the actual drives attached are displayed?

Thanks and apologies if this is really old stuff.

if I recall you need to have that stuff on a FAT32 partition for it to work properly, that's likely why it does on the flash drive and not on the large drives.
if you had it working on one of the large drives perhaps it was formatted FAT32 or you were just lucky.
since you are using a USB hub, that stuff would have to be on the first drive that's picked up as well, not any of the other drives that get mounted later.

as for the duplicate drives, thew only time I had something similar is when there was an unsupported character in the name of it, letters, numbers and spaces in the file names, letters and numbers only in the drive names, no spaces at all. and again, possibly an issue when using the USB hub, I used my USB hub for my flash drive, ethernet adapter and an optical drive.

however it has been a while since I set mine up and have the quirks out of the system and all my other programs are compatible with the Gen1 all the way through the live plus I have...
