    Hi!

I've found many topics about this but almost all of them were about limited network capacity or didnt answer my question:

I consider getting the HD Live unit and wanted to play my blurays (converted to mkv, but still have the original bitrate and 1080p resolution). Are there any playback problems with high bitrate parts when I use a USB drive connected to it?

Even better would be a rough estimate of a maximum bitrate that can be played without lag or other problems.

Thank you very much for all answers and have a nice day!

The highest bitrate movie i have is Avatar which peaks at 50mbps and averages over 30 for most of the movie and plays back without issue. Using WD Elements 2TB external drive.

EDIT: However i have had trouble with subtitles as the Bluray format for subs is PGS which isn't supported as far as i'm aware so i've demuxed the subs to SUP, used SupRip to convert the subs to SRT files. I'm still having issues with getting the forced track and default track flag to make the forced subtitle subs working for MKV's (which is 90%+ of my viewing).

I have a 34GB version of avatar and it streams across the network and plays fine too.
I'm not sure what the maximum bitrate is but I haven't heard of anyone finding it and having troubles yet

as was said, subtitles seem to present some with problems, I don't use them so I can't comment either way..

Very good, thank you very much (also for the estimated peak and average rate)!

In the meantime I found another info (for those people having a similar question as I did): The bird scene from planet earth (16 reframes) should also play fine, amazing (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) (obviously I didnt check that, I think I found it searching for "bird lag" and wd tv on google).

Thanks again and have a good time!
    Bye!
