    Afternoon,
I have 3 of the oldest WDTV's. The biggest issue I have is that they will not output plain ole stereo audio from my HD files via hdmi to just a plain old flat panel tv with no sound system added. The work fine with DVD-rips, but no HD files will output stereo sound directly to a TV.

I want to be able to run a WDTV in my RV which has 3 flat panel TVs, but has no optical or digitally based surround sound. I want to just watch a HD movie through the TV speakers.

Will the latest WDTV Live Plus decode plain ole stereo audio and send it to a TV via HDMI?

I can confirm that the Gen. 1 can indeed output stereo audio via HDMI to an LCD TV with no receiver attached. Obviously though, if your files have DTS audio there's nothing it can do about it. But for MP4s/MKVs with 6-channel AAC/AC3 etc. audio, it can downmix and output stereo just fine.

Well, it will with a select few files I have, but for most files I have it won't. My hope was that a brand new Live Plus would output/downvert any file to a TV.

yes, I have a live plus hooked up to a CRT style TV, it plays audio and video for every file I have tried on it.

My first Live Plus just showed up. I unplugged my trusty Gen 1 box, plugged this in, and whola, it does indeed play all the files in plain ole stereo audio that my Gen 1 would not -- which was most of them.
