Um... hi (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
I am about to make peace with that box i bought. I can access lots of music and videos. Not quite in the way i had planned, but hey... I am just listening to a live recording of a "Die Sterne" concert. It is played in alphabetical order which is pretty nuts. Of course the id3 tags are set, the titles are numbered accordingly. Doesn't that box pay any respect to my id3 tags? Will i have to rename my files so the name contains the song number? Oh please... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) thanks for your thougts on this, tim |

Don't be so quick to make your peace! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
IMO these players are useless for playing audio, due to the various bugs and serious lack of features. I don't own the SMP so I cannot say for sure what the situation is with the latest FW, but a quick search on the official forum seems to indicate that the track numbers need to be present at the beginning of the filenames, which is simply ridiculous. According to the Sort & Filter Music section of the manual (pages 77-78; see link below if you need it), the available Sort options are "by Date, Alphabetically, Ratings, or by Recently Viewed", and the available Filter options are "by All Albums, All Tracks, Genre, Artist, Folders, Playlist, Untagged, New Items, and Favorites". Don't see track numbers mentioned anywhere. If you get it to work by employing some sort of black magic, do share, but personally I feel it's a lost cause and you'd be better off simply using these for video playback (not that that won't make you tear out your hair occasionally/often as well). |
