hi folks, i'm using 1st gen WDTV and have a sony DAV-DZ310 home theater system which (supposedly) can decode DTS. but i'm noob in these things and have failed to get mkv with DTS to work. below is the DZ310 back panel, i've crossed out the connections that this model does not have.

    so far i've tried:

WDTV -> HDMI -> TV and WDTV -> white/red/yellow cables -> DZ310 - this setup doesn't work, no sound playing mkv with DTS

WDTV -> HDMI -> TV and WDTV -> white/red audio cables -> DZ310 - this setup doesn't work, no sound playing mkv with DTS

WDTV -> white/red/yellow cables-> TV and DZ310 -> HDMI -> WDTV - this setup doesn't work either, plus the picture quality is terrible

is it possible to make the DTS work with DZ310 which has only 1 HDMI port?

    feedback welcomed.

the HDMI port is your video but ifI recall, I think you need to use the optical (toslink) connector for the audio, so while the receiver itself may be DTS compatible, it doesn't look like you have that input.

You would have needed input #3, which is optical in. That way you could have get DTS sound to your receiver.

Yeah, either #3 (TOSLink), or maybe even an HDMI IN so that you could have WDTV > HDMI > DZ310 > HDMI > TV. Seems your model is the lower one in the series and lacks the necessary ports.

P.S. Hope with all the setups you tested, you tried setting the Audio Output under Settings to both Stereo and Digital?
