I got an older version of WDTV - not Live. WD TV HD Media Player - 1st Gen - Europe (PAL).
(I guess it is much easier in WDTV Player Live since LAN can be connected.) How to easily switch USB external drive between a computer and WDTV Player? I'm sick of changing cables and moving my USB drive from one place (my computer - after I download a movie) to another (WDTV Player - when I want to watch it) and the other way around... I thing maybe some kind of a network disc (NAS) could be a solution? So I could connect such a disc to WDTV Player through USB port and simultaneously to my computer (or a router) also to USB port. Then I don't need to switch the cables and physically move the disc from one location to another. But would it work? Or some kind of USB switcher... So all I need to do is to press a button to switch USB disc between my computer and WDTV Player? |

You could always install custom firmware and use a USB wireless adapter to network your player. Maybe this thread will help.
