    Hi everyone,
I'm glad to have bought the WD TV live.
But I've noticed recently that it uploads so much data to internet without reason... for one hour connected to internet that can grow to 1go uploaded :|

Anyone has already noticed this fact?

    Thanks,

The original Live, Live Plus or the latest Live SMP? If either of the first two, official or custom firmware? Which FW version?

Uploads 1 GB in an hour? By my calculations, that means it's uploading at around 2.28 Mb/s! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) Are you sure? How did you test this? Even if the SMP connects to the online movie DB to download metadata, there's no way it should be uploading so much.

the only time I've ever see so much unaccounted for traffic was from a bad network card.

I doubt very much that's your issue. you best find a way to figure out what all that traffic is and go from there.

My product is a WD TV Live Streaming Media Player (latest) I think I have the FW version: Version 1.06.0.
The amount of data is an average, I've discovered this fact into the stats of upload into my internet provider...
I've stopped the online movie DB download of metadata too.

Moved to Live SMP section of the forum.

1.06.04 is pretty old so you should probably update and check again.

As for the stats, how did you exclude all your other uploads? Try using a packet analyser such as Wireshark to see exactly what the player is uploading, and where.

The firmware actually installed is the 1.07.18... I've installed wireshark but I'm not a boss with this tool.

Even 1.07.18 is old now. As for Wireshark, there are tutotials online and you can at least figure out what IPs/sites the device is connecting and uploading all that data to.
