Hi,
Ive just upgraded the firmware on my WDL TV and found that most the music videos I use to watch are no longer available, so I thought I would upgrade the firmware to '1.01.24 B-RAD WDLXTV Live' hoping that this would help me out. But not luck, I still get the same error! This was my first try at hacking/firmware upgrade to non WD firmware, so I didnt know what to expect. But it all went well. I have some Linux knowledge as I have hacked away at my WDWB and added a few things like torrent and custom menus and bits I use. So I am willing to play with my WDL TV to get this to work if anyway could/would give me some help as I'm not even sure where to start ... Thanks Rich ... |

It seems WD introduced this 'feature' as part of its recent deal with YouTube... If WDLXTV-Live didn't help, I guess the only way out might be to downgrade to an older firmware that worked.

Like WDUser said go back to the 1.01.17 firmware and don't update. Youtube will now work fine.

Hello ev'body (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
I've got definitely a problem with youtube videos that are "restricted", since more than 70% of the videos that i'm trying to play show that annoying message. I've search through this and other forums, but as you report, the only workaround seems to be the downgrade to 1.01.17 firmware. I've tried this trick, but unfortunately this FW makes my wireless usb device Netgear EWAW111 not supported anymore. So i tried WDLXTV 0.4.5.1 but still no result, i've lost "network shares" capability instead with this FW. I still hope in something that does the trick for me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Thanx for your attention so far... Alec |

From what I read, it got nothing to do with WD. They say, when someone uploading video into youtube, there's a tick box that user can specify whether to allow the video to be displayed on set top boxes or not. Basically, the video owner doesn't give permission to display the video other than through internet. I know it suc_ks.. if anyone knows a way to bypass it, please share.. |

I know it sucks.. if anyone knows a way to bypass it, please share.. WDLXTV - I have yet to get that message when viewing youtube videos. I don't look at youtube often on the WDTV but when I do I have yet to experience this message. as for adding different sites, it's easy. no direct web sites but if they have an RSS feed it takes less than 5 minutes to get it working also depends on the video format whether it actually works or not. trial and error here is a list of tested and working sites that us testers have put together over the last little while: http://wiki.wdlxtv.com/UMSP_Content |
