    Hi all,

Hoping someone can help me out with this.

Just picked up the SMP and a new dock to attach it to. It was a Thermaltake BlacX 5G, I figured I would "futureproof" my docking station for USB3 and the newer faster sata drives, etc etc.

Anyways, I get everything setup and plugged in but I get nothing from the new docking station.

I was wondering if it was the USB3 cable, so I swapped it for a USB2 cable but still nothing. All I get out of the WD is the light on the front that just blinks maybe once when I connect.

My USB flash drives work fine. I used my old Thermaltake BlacX USB2 dock on it and it worked fine, found everything instantly.

I upgraded to the latest firmware and I am rather stuck.

The new dock does actually work, I've had it plugged in to my laptop without issue.

Any help would be appreciated I have no idea where to look from here, I was hoping that someone had a similar experience with this particular setup.

    Cheers, and thank you.

Just posted on another thread suggesting a user buy a Thermaltake BlacX dock since mine works fine (with the older Live though, I don't own the SMP). TBH this sounds like something Thermaltake support might need to answer for, so I suggest you approach them first and see what they have to say about it. WD support's likely to just gonna wash their hands off it anyway if you approach them first, saying it's a 3rd party product that they haven't tested and cannot guarantee compatibility with. In case Thermaltake confirms that the problem lies with the SMP's firmware, that gives you more leverage to then approach WD and ask them to fix their player, or indeed if they're interested for Thermaltake itself to approach WD directly (which might yield faster results).
