       .Sub new line problem

    Hello.

    I've got WD TV Live with the newest official firmware (1.05.04).

    The new line doesn't appear to work in .sub format. The "|" character for new line instead appears in the subtitles.

    Is this happening to anyone else?
    I used the search but couldn't find anything about it.

    I just recently bought the device and I believe most of the subtitles I used were in .srt format which works just fine.

    I'd appreciate some help with this (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

    Did you try different encoding styles, such as Unicode, ANSI, UTF-8 etc. to see if all exhibit the same issue?

    Just tried the different encodings.
    It appears it only reads ANSI, it doesn't open any of the other file encodings I tried (UTF-7, UTF-8, Unicode and Unicode big endian).

    I forgot to mention the .sub is MicroDVD.
    I've tried with multiple movies and multiple MicroDVD subtitles and it never seems to read the "|" as new line/line break.

    I haven't done anything with WD TV besides updating to 1.05.04.
    I haven't tried MicroDVD before updating (I pretty much updated it as soon as I got it).

    I've triple-checked the names of subtitle files and the only difference is the .en, .es, .de etc. (just to be able to differentiate encodings).

    I used Subtitle Edit to resave the subtitles.

    Not sure if I missed anything else.

    Tried downgrading to 1.04.31 and quite a lot of factory and hard resets and unplugging the power...
    Didn't help, the player still only read ANSI MicroDVD subtitles and still ignored the line break character.

    I would expect every one of those would work as does converting with subtitle edit.
    I just find it a bit odd that no one is having the same issue and I don't have a clue why MicroDVD doesn't work. :\

    Problem is that the manual is not very specific. It lists SUB as a supported format but there are several subs with this extension, so which is supported? I've added this to my list and will forward it to WD. Can't promise anything, though.

    Indeed there are several subtitles that use .sub extension and converting to .srt really isn't that difficult.
    However, it would be very nice if the .sub would work as supposed to (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

    I had the same problem with .sub files and I fixed that by simply replacing "|" character with newline character "\n".
