I have had the original WDTV for quite a while now & I had mainly watched media with a WD passport HDD attached. The drive has a couple of hundred videos of different lengths on it. Most of these movies were in folders with a JPEG image of the title. I addition I had all of my home videos on the drive.
I have just been given a WDTV live media player. All I have done was been to delete the software folder from HDD & then plug the drive into the new media player. I had assumed that I would end up with the same file structure as was on the HDD but this is not the case. If I click in video I have a list of 999 files (there may be many more but I suspect that 99 is some limit imposed upon the file structure). This list includes listings on individual episodes that are stored on folders as well as individual vob files etc which come from my one home videos. Where did I go wrong? Should I have kept the WD files on the Hard Drive? Do I have to let the HDD be scanned in the PC to create a new file listing all available files? I didn't see under photo's any of the JPEG thumbnails that were in most folders? I have F/W 1.04.17 installed should I upgrade? I see many are having problem with the latest version. Thanks in advance |

By "software folder", do you mean the .WD_TV Media Library Database folder? If not, then I have no idea what you just deleted. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Delete the aforementioned folder, then attach the HDD to the Live and allow the indexing to be completed (make sure Media Library is turned on under System Settings, which it should be by default). Then you can access the contents of the drive using the various views provided under Video, Music, Photo etc.
