Our LG tv does not recognise our hard WD hard drive.

So we bought a WDTV Live media player. The tv recognises this but the media player wont recognise the hard drive either, even though they are the same brand.

We have done a firmware update and it still wont recognise the hardrive.

I don't know what else I can do to get it working, we have so many files on the hard drive that we want to watch!

    Can anyone help?

    1. Connect the drive to your PC and run a thorough disk check, including testing for bad sectors.

    2. Delete the .WD_TV folder if present on the drive, then reconnect to the player and see if it's detected.

    3. If not, repartition/reformat the drive as mentioned here.

    4. If that doesn't help either, contact WD Support as the drive may be defective (especially if the player is able to detect and play from other USB pen drives/HDDs).
