wdbaam0000nbk-00 is the model of my WD TV Mini Media Player. The exact hard drive I'm using is here: CLICK HERE

I have a problem of the player not playing files that are 1 gig or over, in file size. What it does is it starts to play the video, then a few seconds into it, it stops and starts playing the next movie. For example, I can convert it to where I've had a 1.1 gig video file. It would play for a few seconds then skip it. HOWEVER, I converted that same file (with a bit less quality) and it came out to 989 megs, and that same file played flawlessly. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I just don't understand why I have to sacrifice quality for playability. I read the manual and seen NO warning about file sizes having to be below 1 gig each. ( Some movies like Godfather are going to be WAY over 1 gig. Any ideas as to why it would do this?

People have reported similar issues affecting Xvid playback (getting cut off midway), so what formats have you tried?

Unfortunately, this is an underpowered device that's been abandoned by WD quite some time back, so any firmware limitations/bugs are never gonna be fixed.

P.S. Isn't that GoFlex USB-powered? Can you try an externally-powered drive instead, just to see if it makes any difference at all?
