all worked fine for the last 6 months - a great present i offered my dad for xmas and how glad he was once i told him he could download films from the net and watch them on tv without having to burn a DVD and rely on the DVD player. all went well until today - until my dad decided to enter the "options" section of the WD mini, visible on his TV (AV4 channel to watch movies and pics) and he entered VIDEOS then inside that, he told me he saw an HD option from the 5 or 6 choices there, and confirmed with OK big mistake !!!!!!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/angry.gif) now he went back to the main menu on the same AV4 channel and nothing appears (none of the 4 buttons - music, foto, movies, options) so he though its because his tv is not HD ready - its an old sony CRT cathode tv, not those modern LCD or PLASMA type. he gave me the wd tv mini kit for me to try it on my HD ready tv and i set it up as usual and go to my AV4 channel and no menu appears either... only my cable tv channels. i must tell you that both tv (mine and dad) are set up to cable tv service, wich comes with a digital box in order to have over 50 channels (apart from the only 4 channels the portuguese tv has) and in order to see cable tv we must make the cable box the command-center letting us visualize any channel on the AV4 channel. help please... ive tried a reset on the small button on the back of the wd av mini player but nothing happens! tell me there is a solution for this blunder, plsssss (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) |

When you enter the Video Settings screen, what options do you see? Did you try switching from HD back again to what was selected earlier? The manual for the Mini doesn't seem to mention any HD option at all anywhere, unless I'm mistaken.
I don't even understand how you were able to view both the Mini's video output and your cable TV on the same AV4 channel? Do you have a switch to flip between your cable TV box and the Mini as and when required? How is the Mini connected to your TV? Via composite or component connection? Make sure the correct option is selected under Settings > TV System. P.S. If you held the reset button for too long (10 secs. or so), you may have mistakenly switched between PAL and NTSC modes. See manual for more. |

yupiiiiiii
i put the WD cd on my dvd player and the menu re-appeared on my tv AV4 channel (seems like the same one as my cable tv without me switching channels - it overlaps the tv signal), letting me enter the options and under video settings, put back the tv to PAL mode and now all works well! thanks for the miracle cd - i connect the mini to the front panel of the tv with the 3 coloured AV cord supplied with the mini (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) my dad mentioned something about HD so i wrote it here but after entering again on the home menu, there is nothing about HD - only pal and ntsc which was the problem (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |
