I am at my wit's end. I bought the wd tv plus and am happy with it for playing movies from my laptop by using the wd tv remote. Now what I want to do is be able to establish some kind of link that will allow me to turn off my tv and send the audio from my laptop 'ad lib' to my simple stereo system that I have connected to the composite audio out on the WDTV. In effect creating a jukebox on my laptop, I have read countless web pages with all kinds of advice of one sort or the other. Apparently I am far dumber than I thought. I have installed trial versions of Tversity, Wild Media Server, Twonky, VLC Media Player and of course I have Windows Media Player. I thought this would be a few hours work based on the glowing advertising but so far it has consumed the entire 4th weekend.
What I need is: Settings on Windows 7 Settings for any one of the above mentioned software. How to set up WDTV if there is any need. Remember, it works just fine with the WDTV remote but I don't want to have my 500+ watt tv on just to play music thru my stero. I would be eternally grateful for a solution. Thanks in anticipation. PS
Just occurred to me that it would be handy and a solution if WDHD could have a window on my laptop which would be the one appearing on the TV in the normal scheme of things. Then I could control it with the WDTV remote. I definitely do NOT want another TV in my life. Thanks Leo363 |

WDLXTV, it has a webpage to configure and (somewhat) control it.
custom firmware is the option for what you want at this point. no need for any trans-coding program on a computer either.. |

BINGO!!! By George, I think you've got it! So many thanks to you. It looks to be the answer to my prayers. I'm awaiting the link to the downloads and will report back my experience.
