I recently bought the SMP unit and set it up last night.
I also have the iPhone WD Remote app - and I have to say, it works brilliantly (better than the remote that is shipped with the product). Very fast and responsive! For once, I have to say: Well done, WD!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) |

There was a new release of this app yesterday and another one today. Today's release: "critical bug fixes and stability updates" - seems it not jut the WD firmware team that cock it up on occasion (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

what about this :
you need wdlxtv, but it works on older WDTV or WDTVLive devices which WD doesn't support with their iPhone App. |

I just searched the net for the YT vid's title and the very first result was: http://forum.wdlxtv.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1446 Looks like the developer simply disappeared without actually releasing anything. Vaporware...

Apparently, bond007 is the developer of the WDLXTV Navigator app, as mentioned here. Wonder why he didn't see fit to mention that here... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Yes, i'm the develloper of WDLXTV Navigator.
I indeed put devellopment on hold for a while (last half year) because of my professional work and other personal activities. Also with the availability of the "official"' WD App, I don't see the need to hurry my further devellopment. But the WD App only works on the latest WDTVLive model, not the older ones. All other Apps for WDTV only let you stream other sources (Youtube, other DLNA sources), not the local drives (as my app does) Furthermore I don't have a lot of resources for App devellopment (no Mac PC, no Apple devellopers id,...) Without an Apple's develloper Id (90 $ each year !), I also can't publish my app in the App Store for distribution. So my App is for the jailbroken devices market only. But then I have to rewrite all NSSettings because they use Apple's standard settings screens. (which aren't available on cydia apps). The only way my App is distributable now is to simply install the .IPA file like you normally do on a jailbroken device. I haven't decided yet on a licensing model yet : - paying or free (ads) official Apple App Store (requires some rewriting then because of use of privat api's) and accept Apple's 30% profit rip off. - paying or free (ads) Cydia (requires some rewriting of Settings) - paying or free (ads) simple .IPA distribution ? (legal ?) Problem with ads is that they require an "official" App in the "official" App Store. BTW: the other iPhone app you mention on first post is not mine : http://forum.wdlxtv.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1446 Bond (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) |
