I have a brand new WD TV LIve hooked to a Sony XBR4 46" LCD via 1.5ft HDMI.

Anyone else seeing 'noise' in their output? I see a intermittent flicker with white single pixel dots (about 40 of them) here and there, usually in the lower left side of the screen. Never in a single line, just kind of hit and miss, happens too quick to turn out in a photo and is a constant flicker. Happens in both the Menus as well as video output.

Tried all the normal stuff such as connections, cycling power, making sure it's up to date, etc...
    ???

Have you tried a different HDMI cable?

Narrowed it down further. Turning off Deep Color (12bit to 8Bit) and the issue went away. Hmm...

Hi I had exactly the same problem on the same sony xbr 46" tv (with glass frame).. turning deep color to 8bit worked. Thanks !!

I now still have a problem with my TV not recognising 'digital' audio output for .mkv with digital sound (5.1).
Connection is via HDMI (off course). Do you have that problem too ? is it because the tv is not HDMI1.3 compatible ?

TV was ok when I connected DVD player via the same HDMI cable..

    Tx

Hmmm... cycling between 12 and 8 bit didn't make a difference.

I've rebooted, unplugged/replugged... nothing. I still have pretty significant "sparklies".

I just bought the WD TV Live today, first time plugging in got the latest firmware downloaded/installed. I'm in the process of getting media libraries accessible from Windows 7 (another chore for another forum post), but the "sparklies" are *really* annoying.

    Any other suggestions?

RESOLVED (for me at least): New HDMI cable and I have rock-solid video now.

Hi, I've read that the HDMI cable is likely tro be the cause. Google HDMI Sparklies and you'll see. I have this problem and i'm going to replace the HDMI cable.

    Hope that helps.
