I've still got an old CRT TV (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) it only has Scart and Composite inputs although it does have optical in for sound.
Anyone know if I can use the new unit with this TV until I decide to upgrade to LCD.. |

We really have no idea on any of the specs yet let alone what comes in the box. @stanst - If you look in the lower right corner on the back it does have audio and video out. Looks like its a 3.5mm jack so you would need to buy the proper cable unless the new WDTV ships with it, which I wouldnt see why not. |

Trusted Reviews website talks about how the new wdtv-2 will support subtitles. "The addition of subtitle display should appease those complaining of its absence from the original WD TV" -TrustedReviews. Ummm...subtitles are supported on the first version of the WDTV. I got a kick out of the people on TrustedReviews trashing the aesthetics of the WDTV and how it wouldnt fit into their custom setup, in my opinion it does the job and does a fine job. Plus its 99bucks get over it. Heres another quote from another commenter ...
"As a designer myself, form and function are equally important and not everyone hides these units away. I use a Mac Mini as a media centre, which sits on top of a smart unit beneath a wall-hung Plasma. I would have bought an AppleTV if it were up to the job. I have four 1TB Iomega drives plugged into that, which I paid extra for because they match the Mac Mini. the aesthetic can often be as important, otherwise your reviewers wouldn't even mention those lovely bezels and glossy finishes in many articles." |

I'll buy the new one and give or sell the old version to a friend or family member. I for one am very excited about this. I love the first generation WDTV and have no complaints, the G2 would just be purchased more for the cool factor of the networking ability.

I love the first generation WDTV and have no complaints, the G2 would just be purchased more for the cool factor of the networking ability. The DTS will be an added bonus something the first one really lacked. As for the networking, there is a 30 dollar solution... usb ethernet adaptor worked like a charm. Still Im stoked to have a hands on with this badboy. |

Thanks for the replies, looks like there might still be some life in me old TV and I'll carry on holding off upgrading until OLED panels turn up.... (could be a few years) lol (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
Reckon I'll wait for this new WD unit .... all we need now is confirmation of the spec and more importantly a release date. |

Iso menu support is most probably a firmware thing. It's probably not very easy to support that feature.
