    Hey guys,

I recently picked up the WD TV Live and am liking it so far. I do however have a few issues.

I am playing .mkv files. At the moment, I am doing it from a USB HD.

The first issue is that there a popping and clicking sounds when a video is being played. It kinda sounds like when you tap on a microphone, and they happen fairly irregularly. I tired switching HDMI cables, and have since tried an optical cable and the problem still exists.

The sound also gets out of sync alittle bit. I can over come this by fast forwarding/re-winding the video and resuming, and then the sound is normal again. However, it will get out of sync as it plays again.

Does anyone know any solution to these problem? I believe I am using the latest firmware. It is a new unit, and I would be willing to try some home brewed firmware if it fixes the problem.

    Thanks guys

So this happens only with MKVs and not other file types? Also, all MKVs?

I guess you've connected the player to your receiver? How about direct to the TV? Does cutting your receiver out of the equation change anything?

What's the audio codec being used in the MKVs? Run MediaInfo on the files to check.

Hey there, thanks for your reply!

It does appear to be all just .mkv files. I have played .avi files flawlessly. I have played a number of different .mkv files (from the same source though...) and the all experience the same problem.

Regarding the optical cable - I since remembered that the other end (that goes into the TV) was actually optical out, and the sound was still being sent across the HDMI cable. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) I thought if I selected Digitial (Without HDMI Audio) it wouldn't send it across the HDMI cable. Silyl me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) I switched the HDMI cable for component cables, and the problem stll exists.

I will run the mediainfo program when I get home.

    Thanks for you help!
