    I just bought a WD 3TB external hard drive and still have half of the space free and I am getting the same error from my WD TV HD Gen 2. I have had the hard drive for less then a week and i am getting this issue. I also have a 2 TB WD Element and i do not have this issue at all. If there is any info anyone wants to give i would appreciate it.

    do you have the original WDTV or just the gen2, as this is the original WDTV section..
    the maximum size drive that is supported is 2TB, anything over that may or may not work, most likely it wont, no matter which player you have.
