    Hello all,
I have my WD TV Live integrated into my home network and connected to a WD 2TB HD (7200RPM) external running off of USB. All movies and files play great, but I've been finding that it's considerably faster to disconnect the drive and connect to my computer directly to transfer files than transfer them through the network.

I have a Linksys N router flashed with DDWRT, a G (Alfa) usb adapter on the computer, and of course the internal N in the WDTV.

Why am I experiencing less than 1MB/sec on my transfer speeds whereas via USB I get around 28MB/sec? Is the alfa G (54MB) that much of a hardware bottleneck or is there something else I can fix?

    Thanks in advance,
    B.G.

windows sharing (samba or even ftp) seems to have a lot of overhead and is slow as hell.
if your drive was formatted to EXT2 or 3 instead of NTFS, you would likely get better speeds.

I am of course assuming you are a Windows user.

54 Mbps = 6.75 MBps and represents a theoretical maximum only.
