Any tips appreciated I am trying to get a wireless keyboard to work it won't, despite working on another WDTV Live.

The USB is fine but the keyboard will not work despite showing as linked and functioning together.

Is there another step I need to take?

Did you try it on an original Live (abandoned, no new FW since last year), or the new Live SMP (which is still being updated and thus may have better support)?

Also, which keyboard (make/model) is it? You can search the Live (1st Gen.) section of this forum to see which keyboards have been reported to work well with it. The same ought to work with the Live Plus as well, since the final FW release for both was around the same time.

I tried it on a new WD Live SMP bought earlier this year.

It worked on it and I used the exact same keyboard on my new SMP and it won't.

A brand new Microsoft Wireless Optical 700 also won't work.

The USb shows my flash drive and I can network to it so that's all fine, but the keyboard issue has me stumped!

So the new one is also an SMP, and not an older Live Plus?

Yes with latest firmware and identical to the model that I used the same keyboard on with success earlier in the year.

So everything is identical. The only thing different is the firmware, same WDTV model, same keyboard.

One works one doesn't despite USB functioning.

I'm still a wee bit confused - how is a Live Plus the "same WDTV model" as a Live SMP?

Yeah, which is why I'm wondering why he's mentioning the SMP repeatedly, but has posted in the Live Plus section and says "the only thing different is the firmware". (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)
