Hi,
I have been using a USB stick to view movies etc in my WD TV Mini with great success. No problems there. But, on the weekend i bought a WD My Passport Elite 500 GB and backed up my entire laptop [no problems again] but now when i plug the Passport into the WD TV Mini to watch movies etc the content is in Japanese. USB stick still works ok and in English... I made sure to set up both in English, and the wierd thing is the page titles on the WD TV Mini are still in English, its just the content that's in Japanese. So its something coming through from the passport ... Any thoughts, its probably something i've done wrong. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Any help would be appreciated. Much thanks. |

you put Japanese content on your drive?
I doubt anything like that would have happened while copying content to the new drive unless it was corrupt to begin with. |

Hi there,
We just bought one today and cannot get it working - It seems to have the same issue as above, when we select movies it comes up with 3 folders in asian language (perhaps japense i cant tell!) even though we only have one AVI file on the whole drive. If you select the folder it comes up with like 10 other folders and keeps going and going till theres nothing to select. weird since theres only one file on the drive! I thought it might have been a problem with the drive im using (also a WD passport Elite) so i made sure i disabled journaling for Mac OSX as required in the WDTV instructions. Still doesnt work. I even copied the demo files off the WDTV disc and they dont come up either. Support is clossed today so i cant call them - any ideas? Its driving me nuts! Thanks |

1. Try resetting the player (use the hard reset button if there's one; read manual for more).
2. Try formatting the drive afresh using HFS+ and see if that helps. Try NTFS if HFS+ still exhibits the same issues. |
