    @Jolst: I guess you need to have a C compiler like gcc installed, and then need to run ./configure, as mentioned in the ReadMe.txt file. If all that's beyond you, simply download a pre-built binary for OS X from the mkvtoolnix site.

    Try this. Download the latest mkvtoolnix release and override the default header removal compression settings for each audio track you want to keep in an MKV.     Sigh, yes I did. What I failed to read (ANYWHERE) is that MediaInfo does not show the Header Compression when showing info for the file.

    Everything works great with mkvmerge GUI, I was just wondering (albeit not clearly enough) what the difference was between the two files I had trouble with.

    Problem diverted, not solved in my eyes until WD can make header compression work without remuxing the files.

    I am also having same probs with about half a dozen or so MKV's...
    They have DTS and play fine on PC but no audio at all on WDTV thru optical or stereo...
    I have tried the remuxing method using MKVmerge setting compression to none for audio stream, but this doesnt work either...

    Look for the Popcorn Audio converter. Download it and install, run the option in the top to get all of the tools installed. I tried the MKVmerge with no luck, the Popcorn works all the time and it's pretty fast too.

    Finally had some success with the mkvmerge method...
    had to change the video AND any additional audio streams to none, I was only doing the audio streams..
    did a file again and now it plays perfect....

    That may well be, but I havnt even been into the tutorials thread at all as of yet..
    I foolishly thought the obvious place to start for such a problem would be the audio section of the wdtv-live section....

    I´ve a WD TV HD LIVE and it works fine (network connection / shares etc.)
    I just cant hear any Sound when i play a mkv file. It is a large file 5 GB cause its a blue ray HD video file.
    Im a noob in sounds and converting so my question is.

    how can i get a sound on my wd dh tv live for these mkv files ?
    i think about an converter but i wont lost any quality of the movie so my second question is ... in which format should i convert the mkv file to be able to watch in it on the WD HD TV LIVE with sound ?

    @valdez: If you have a Live, don't post in the Gen. 1 section of the forum. As for your problem, check out the pinned Tutorials section topic as mentioned above. Most probably removing header compression will do the trick. However, this issue has been fixed in newer firmware versions, so which version do you have installed?

    I am on the latest firmware and have tried all that is suggested in this thread. I still get the video played just not the audio. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
