When my WD elite external HD was new (and empty) movies played fine, even Bluray rips at 20 gb per file. Now I am having problems. Also, the right hand light blinks on and on, and won't stop.

I moved several folders full of jpgs to the external hd, and I am wondering if that is the hold up (could be 60,000 files in those folders) Has anyone else experienced this? I'm assuming that removing the clutter from that drive will help, since it must be trying to read every file or index them all, and there are A LOT. Also, I am sneaker netting this drive between rooms and computers, so would it have to search the drive each time WDTV live is turned on, or sees a new USB drive?

I believe if the media library is turned on, then every time a drive is connected the player will scan it to see if any new content has been added, then update the library accordingly.

And yes, your performance drop might be due to the clutter. Try to bring things down to a more manageable level and see.
