I've googled and searched to no avail. The AVI files in question play fine on my laptop. I've tried converting to WMV9 and XVID and they still won't play. Everything is uploaded onto my Passport Elite. Any ideas what the problem may be?

1) Have you read the manual to see what audio/video codecs the player supports inside an AVI container?
2) Playing on your laptop in a software player has no relevance to the issue, except maybe to confirm that the files seem to be fine. They still might have corrupted indexes/frames that the hardware player might be choking on. 3) You converted AVIs to XviD? XviD is a video codec used inside AVIs. What were the original AVIs then? DivX? I suggest you download and run MediaInfo on one of those original AVIs and paste the text report here. |

Hi
I have a similar problem with AVI files recorded in 720p HD on my Nikon D90 camera. Some of them play all the way through but others will freeze with the sound still going as well as the progress bar. When they freeze it seems to be in the same place on each file... Very strange anyone got any ideas? It's really frustrating. I am using a My Book Essential Edition 2.0 1Tb. It has a lot of none relevant backup files on it, would this make any difference? Thanks for any help |

Hi!
I have similar problem with my hard discs; I have 2 discs: My Passport Essential SE 750 GB and My Passport Essential SE 1 TB. And, what is very odd for me, the same movies from the SD card and USB reader are played without any problems, very fluently. Would you like to try it? I am sure, that transfer from HD is much faster than from SD card! |
