Hello, sorry for my English (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
If I use Haali Media Splitter 1.9.355.21 to build MKV HD Videos my WDTV stops playing after 49 seconds. This MKV plays without problems on WMplayer and VLC-Player. If I use mkvtoolnix-unicode-3.2.0 with the same video source everything is fine. WDTV plays without any Problems. The Problem is, a lot of Tools using Haali Media Splitter. TSDoctor use Haali Media Splitter for export TS-Stream to MKV. I have tested different sources 1920 × 1080p or I, 1280 × 720. But it doesn't matter. With mkvtoolnix WDTV is OK with Haali Media Splitter (GDSMux) Video stops after several seconds on my WDTV. If I want to build a MKV from m2v and ac3 process bar stop. It never finish. The unfinished MKV is playable with VLC and Wmplayer. Very strange! Maybe there is something wrong with filter configuration? What is your experience with GDSMux and WDTV? |

Can you try a quick test? Encode the same source to MKV using both Haali and MKVToolnix, keeping settings same as much as possible. Confirm that one plays and the other doesn't. Now run MediaInfo on both MKVs and compare the two. What's different about them?

Direct comparison isn't possible because mkvtoolnix can't use Ts-files.
I have to us Tsmuxer for demuxing into h264 and Ac3. And this is very interesting: GDSMux can't read the h264 video stream! I've got Error 80040217 Can't read filter for connection ...(Translation ) But GDSMux can read the TS-Stream with h264 and AC3. Very strange! I can add a single AC3 without any problems. But no single m2v or h264. Keep in mind: For mkvtoolnix mkv file I used tsmuxer and for the GDSMux I used the TS-Stream without demuxing with tsmuxer. I think video delay maybe a problem. I need a MKV packet analyzing tool (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Maybe Wireshark ? Hexeditor comparison ? Maybe Graphedit is helpful? |

First of all, why is video delay showing up in the audio section of the report? Does it have to do with syncing the audio to the video?
Comparing the two reports shows only that GDSMux is indeed adding a video delay (for what?) that mkvtoolnix is not. Is this the cause of the problem? I don't really know. Is there some way to remove the delay without re-encoding? Other than this, if there's any difference, at least MediaInfo isn't showing it. AFAIK, Wireshark is a network packet analyzer, not for local files such as MKVs etc. Hexeditor comparison might not really help, since the file sizes are different and most probably the encoded data is also completely different (since I guess no two encoders will encode every bit of every frame exactly the same way). |

Delay
I've add the mkvtoolnix MKV into GDSMux for remux. Mediainfo don't display a delay anymore. But playback stops after 29 sec. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I like to change MKV parameters like cluster size,MKV version 1.0 or 2.0 ... But GDSMux or dsmux.exe don't have any option. AVI-MUX have his one MKVmuxer like MKVtoolnix. There a lot of Options: http://www.alexander-noe.com/video/amg/en_...ptions_mkv.html Have muxed a lot of MKVs with AVI-MUX. Changed version1 and 2, cluster size 128,256,512,1MB ... But every MKV plays without any problems on my WDTV! Isn't Gdsmuxer from the inventor of MKV? Every software using his one mkv muxer generates WDTV complain MKVs. Except Haali Media Splitters's GDSMux. I've installed an old version of Haali Media Splitter MatroskaSplitter110109.exe. But there is no change. |

Hi,
the delay because of the source file. It's a transport stream and transport streams have audio/video delay. But that's not the problem. By demuxing and remuxing with TSMuxeR you can remove the delay. This will not make the situation better. What I discovered is that when you double the cluster size in GDSMux settings the time before playback is interrupted will be doubled too. I gues it has to do with a different handling of clusters. By the way such Haali muxed files running perfect on Popcorn Hour and LG Bluray player. Regards Cypheros |

Hmmm,
WD seams to ignore this issue. Too sad (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Other manufacturer have better MKV support. |

the Gen1 WDTV media player was left for dead well over a year and a half ago, there will never be any updates or further support for it unfortunately..

Hi WDTVGen1,
this is the solution for your problem: http://wdtvforum.com/main/index.php?topic=...g48614#msg48614 (Found the solution by myself, but oposky2006 already knows it in 2010 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ) Rgrds Luzifer P.S. If you first mux the .TS first with GDSmux then it will remove the NALUs and the file will shrink; the remux the .MKV a second time with MKVmerge to make it playable on WDTVLive. |
