    Hi WD men,
    Hi guys,
    i don't understand why it's not possible (via official firmware) to have a thumbnail view like mymovies, or yamj, or mediabrowser, or XBMC, or Windows Media Center, or MovieJukebox, or....

    Let me explain better. It would be very nice (for me would be another reason to buy the another WD Live) to have for every movies:
    1) A thumbnail view better than actually;
    2) A short description of Movie;
    3) Some information like, genre, year, actors, ......
    4)..........

    So the question is why it's not possible have these features?

    Thanks

    Niccolo

    It is. If hacked FW can do it with some apps, certainly official FW can too. Only thing I can say is, WD devs are either too lazy/incompetent or have their hands full releasing FW which only fixes bugs, forget about adding new features.

    For me if WD had these features would be a "killer solution".The problem is also that the WD Live it's very "closed", i'm not able to install it some apps like YAMJ (for example).

    it's a hardware player, period.

    no sense in even trying to think about putting those old software players on it..

    as for your requests;
    1) A thumbnail view better than actually;
    I am sorry, I don't understand what you mean.

    2) A short description of Movie;
    3) Some information like, genre, year, actors, ......

    available with modified firmware and apps.

    1) A thumbnail view better than actually.
    Actually the thumbnail are too small and i don't see for example the correct title.
    2) A short description of Movie;
    3) Some information like, genre, year, actors, ...
    Have you seen for example YAMJ for Popcorn hour? I don't want a modified FW i prefer to have an official FW with apps (like YAMJ for example).

    Resuming if possible i would like to have a movie library like YAMJ, or Windows Media Center, or Media Browser, or ......

    Thanks

    Really? How? I see that b-rad is working on moviesheets. But that isn't ready for prime time. What firmware/apps do you use to give you this?

    b-rad is not working on movie sheets, Titi is and yes it is still in it's infancy but better than nothing and getting better all the time.

    I don't use my live because these things don't work 100% - yet.

    what the live can do is still quite limited, we all figured wd would jump on board and make something like the wdtv only better, we were wrong.

    I am considering a different player and dumping the wdtv's altogether at this point, they never listen to the users for bug fixes or improvements so why should we support them?

    Which players are you considering? I actually thought that xstreamer looked pretty good, but the tv in my bedroom doesn't have hdmi (it is a small 720p lcd) and the only other option is composite video. Cinematube also looks good, but I'm not sure that it solves the problems that I have with the wdtv. Otherwise the options I see are to just spend more money and get a popcorn hour or a revo with xbmc.

    oconnellc - I am in the early stages of research, nothing decided yet, just looking at what's available and features, 'hackability', etc..

    WDUser, yup, I missed that alright, I stand corrected, looking at it now to see if I want to install it when it's released..
