I just purchased/installed WDTV Live. Video and internet are fine.
But the sound on TV thru HDMI is quiet bad... bad quality. Very noisy, can't hear at all. I noticed this bad quality (thru HDMI) on videos, local mp3 and internet (radios/youtube). Then I connected WD a/v cable to my receiver and the sound is perfect (some noises on MKV files, but okay). Can it be a compatibility problem between my LCD TV and WDTVLive? Thanks in advance. Regards, Alex. obs. - The HDMI cable was being used on a DVD without any problem. - My receiver does not have HDMI nor optical. - I already updated WDTV to the latest firmware. |

How about sound on TV via composite/component? BTW, if you have a receiver, why not leave the player connected to it directly instead of routing via the TV? Could be an issue with the TV, but you can try different HDMI v1.3 cables. Doesn't matter if one was working with other equipment. As we've seen many times on this forum, changing cables does help. BTW, what's the audio codec used in those noisy files? Run MediaInfo to check if you don't know.
