Connected via composite or component? Are you sure you haven't got the two mixed up? Also, are the colours matched up at both ends properly?

Evertyhing was matched and plugged in properly.
only the yellow, red and white wires were used to connect and after which the entire system was detected and managed to start up automatically after it was power up but the only shortcoming was just the double image.

Hmm... All I can say is check the settings on the player, esp. those related to video resolution, normal vs. widescreen etc.

Also double-check at your TV's end 'cos most probably that's where the problem lies. If possible, can you connect to another TV and check?

Are you using a European (PAL) or North American tv (NSTC)?

I had a similiar problem with a friend of mine's tv. Its a pal TV. Go to the video settings, and change between NSTC and Pal and see if that fixes it.
