    Hello,

I have tried to play a number of wmv files on my HDTV Live (with custom firmware).

The files did not play. So I renamed them simply by changing their extension from wmv to ts.

Most files played well after changing their extension - however one does not have sound (video is good) - on my PC the sound works.

I suspect is has DTS audio, which does not work on the HDTV live box (I use HDMI).

    Is that possible?

How can I determine what audio is on the file? How can I convert it into a format which will play on the WD HDTV live box?

    Thanks for any advice!

    Check with MediaInfo.

As for conversion, there are plenty of programs. Google or check videohelp.com

I wouldnt have thought it would be dts in a wmv file, wmv is compressed so to add dts audio which is a very high bitrate would not seem logical!

@radialman: WMV doesn't necessarily mean low-quality highly compressed audio/video. There is WMV HD too, you know...

yes you are quite right (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

And of course wmv is just the container!

still think wmapro2 could be the issue though!

And mkv would be a better choice over wmv,it is a more versatile container allowing multiple streams of audio subs etc,and almost no restrictions as to what codecs or filetypes are used!
    (Player will have though!)

Of course that doesnt help you play the file you already have!
