Anybody know a way of getting the wdtv live to output audio over the composite connections at the same time as output of video over hdmi? am asking because my tv/monitor has dvi input rather than hdmi and although i've got a hdmi to dvi cable this obviously doesn't carry audio and the wdtv appears to cut off output via anything other than hdmi and optical when the hdmi connection is being used since it assumes hdmi-hdmi connection.

I've got the same problem sending the video to the projector over HDMI but i need the analog stereo output for my stereo amp. (no digital inputs).
Do you have a fix? |

Actually, if you hook up your Analog audio(Red/White) cable it should send an analog signal to your stereo/receiver. You can go into options and change it to Stereo instead of Digital. I think plugging anything into the Analog audio will override the audio passed from the HDMI.

Has anyone tried this on the Live? This set up (described by beefjerky, just using the analog audio cable for sound while I use the HDMI for video) is ideal for me. I need to have the analog audio working even if the TV is switched off. For me this is make-or-break - if it definitely works then I'll be getting one! Looks like a great device. Just wanted to double-check so I don't end up adding to my graveyard of media-player-come-doorstops... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

In the settings, if you select "Stereo" and "HDMI(Auto)" it will always output stereo audio via both HDMI and analog out.
If you select "Digital" and "HDMI(Auto)" it will always output audio via HDMI but it will only output analog out when it's NOT Dolby or DTS. |
