Hi I'm new to this forum. I purchased a wd tv live plus today and got the suprise that there was no internal wirless like the Zoku. So i got a Belkin Basic N usb wirless adapter and put it in. when i go to the network menu there is no option for setting up wirless. I tried to do manual Ip setup to see if that woudl initialize it but nothing. i tried the usb stick on my laptop it works fine. any ideas why the menu for wirless isnt showing up?

Moved to the correct section. Do post in the appropriate Live Plus section if that's the model you have.

Here's the official list of devices that can be connected to a WD TV Live HD Media Player and WD TV Live Plus HD Media Player.

I am having the EXACT same problem.

I go to network setup, yet wireless is not shown anyway.

Anyone have any ideas why? I am using an approved wireless dongle.

it has to be an approved device and it has to be detected when the unit is powered on

try both USB ports, unplug the wdtv, insert the adapter, then apply power

if it still doesn't work, check the revision and firmware of your USB adapter, it is likely the wrong version so it's incompatible

yeah, that's messed up, but that's the way it works. no one said WD were customer oriented or put much thought into it..

im currently running wireless internet. the one i chose was the usb netgear evaw11. It came with the netgear eva2000 I use to run as my entertainment unit. so decided to see if it works and it did!. surprisingly I thought the wifi usb would only work for the netgear device but i was wrong, it worked on my wd hd live plus

    hope that helps!

I struggled too with setting this up with the typical usb adapters. I tried several. They look correct per the box but only to find they were a different version or would not work. It was a huge waste of time and money driving back and forth to the store.

I though of another alternative. Why not use a wireless bridge to put a network hub next to my WDTV. The WDTV would accept an ethernet cable and would not reject it because of a new version etc. The signal would go the bridge regardless of its version and then connect it with a short ethernet cable. Bingo it worked! So far it has streamed HD from netflix and my PC in the other room. And the best part it was sooooo simple and fast to do. Also, I have my side usb port open for my flash drive and WD portable hard drive. Love WDTV Live Plus now that it works.

    Equipment used:

    Netgear N 300 Router Model WNR2000
Linksys Wireless-N Gaming and Video Adapter WET610N

Set up the router to work per insturctions. Then set up the Linksys per instuctions and done!
