    I keep my media files on a couple of shared network drives on a windows 7 computer. I did all the recommended tweaks to make windows 7 able to be accesses by the simplest ways. I have all my 5 computers on the same workgroup name. All of the computers and even a mvix 760hd(moded to 780) see the shares without issue. They work awesomely together.

    Now the Retarded side. WDTV LIVE PLUS is on the same WORKGROUP too and it doesn't see the network shares at all BUT the media server on windows 7 is visible. I can stream Media Server files over an over this way.

    But get this... I rename the workgroup name on the sharing computer to Buttpirate and like magic--> network shares are visible on the WDTVLIVE PLUS(which by the way is still on the workgroup of every other computer in the house). THIS IS SO STUPID.

    The firmware on this thing needs to be updated yesterday.

    Not asking for help here. Just stating the networking on this wdtv live plus is completely retarded.

    current firmware 1.03.29_B

    Since it's so similar to the Live, guess they learnt nothing and changed nothing for the better when it comes to networking (or anything else)... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

    give b-rad a while to make some custom firmware for it, then it will likely be a much better box than it currently is.
    I hated my live for 6 months until some decent custom firmware was released. WD learned nothing from the community with the original WDTV.
    they are f-ing idiots...

    Rev, it's been available for some time now...

    Seems the only way to get it is to donate $5, which frankly I don't think is asking for much at all.

    5 bucks is nothing compared to what you get.

    I gave a lot more than that to him and the firmware for the original WDTV and WDTV-Live were free.

    and to the naysayers who think asking money for the firmware is cheesy, I have one thing to say to you;

    "make your own firmware"

    he should charge for all his work for the amount of time that goes into it.
    if you use it, it should be a no brainer, donate to the cause to keep him motivated.
