NetFlix service for streaming content has just become available in Canada as of September 22, 2010. Has anyone in Canada tried to gain access to this service using the WDTV Live Plus which features NetFlix abilities.

On the Netflix.ca website they list the available products to access the service and nothing from Western Digital is listed. Does it only work state side or is the WDTV missing an oversight.

I currently have the Gen1 WDTV, and if NetFlix worked in Canada, it would motivate me to make an upgrade. Thanks.

I don't have a plus but have been investigating netflix for a while now since I heard it was coming to Canada.

my findings; why would I pay for last years or older shows... fawk that, I will pay for usenet service and get what I want when I want it.
I can get all the new HD tv shows soon after they have aired, netflix sucks is my official opinion at this point..

but opinions are like arse holes, everybody has one and some stink worse than others..

Okay, could you tell me how you really feel about NetFlix??

I personally think that this service is a step in the right direction, and I'm cuirous if the WDTV in Canada is an available vehicle to access that programming. If it is, I'd like to hear how users of the service find the integration of the two, regardless of the content that they are watching.

I agree 100% it's a step in the right direction. If I was retired and had nothing else to do all winter it would be ideal, unfortunately I work, over 60% of my job is driving, I average just about 6000Km per month, I don't have a lot of time to watch new shows let alone old crap, hence my negative opinion of netflix at this time.

we are all about observations and opinions here, I just wish more would contribute to real conversations, I am getting tired of the "HELP ME!" posts that have been answered 100's of times already...

Just spoke to WD pre-sales department.

They say they've been told that it is in the road-map for next year... WTF, that is a long time for this kind of product! Also said they do not recommend people by the WD Live Plus in the hope to eventually use netflix.ca with it...

As of today, is there any real reason to choose the WD Live plus over the WD live?

    Peter

Yes that correct Peter, it is the only reason to choose one of the other. Grab a usenet account over netflix and you will be much happier.

    Cheers!
