    I've got several thousand .flac and .mp3 files organized into artists/albums. Each album has an album cover art image file in it (mostly "folder.jpg"). But none of the music files have embedded images in the tags.

    I've not found a command line / batch tool to embed images into thousands of files. And besides - it's a waste of disk space.

    The audio player should be able to display the folder image if the file does not have an embedded image.

    I'm running the latest firmware (1.02.21).

    Thanks,
    Chris.

    FW v1.02.21 is for the Live and not the Gen. 1. Post in the correct section next time.

    According to the banner text I did:

    Yeah, that's because I moved your post here from the Gen. 1 wishlist section where you posted it originally. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

    Thanks. So how does the Gen. 1 product handle MP3 album art? ? Does it need the image embedded in the MP3 metadata? Or does it display an image in the folder when playing the tracks?

    If it does the same thing as the WDTV Live - then I'd say this is a wish list for that product too - regardless of what product I have - in respect of displaying album cover art: all the products should act pretty much the same, right? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

    I think it does behave similarly, though frankly I'm not too sure. Embedded art displays fine IIRC, and folder.jpg works for the folder thumbnail. It's actually been ages since I bothered to play music with this device, 'cos it's just not one of its strong points, to put it mildly. As for being on the wishlist for Gen. 1, that model is now no longer being updated/supported by WD, so you can see the futility of posting a wish for it. In fact, we may even lock up that section now for good.

    P.S. In certain respects I guess all the models should act the same, but they don't. They have different hardware components inside and the FW obviously differs. We've divided this forum into sections by model for a reason, so that we can keep things organised and so that responses/solutions can be provided that are appropriate for a given model (since what works for one won't necessarily for another). So it's appreciated if people take the time to post in the proper place because if the model isn't specifically mentioned, responses are naturally provided based on the section posted in.

    It's not that the embedded image display doesn't work - just that the SW should be a little more flexible in what can be displayed while a track is playing. e.g.

    CODE
    if (track.metadata.image)
       display embedded image
    else
       if (folder/*jpg | jpeg | ...)
          display image in folder

    Right now: the else part is missing. So that's my wish. It shouldn't be too hard to implement.

    I've got a few thousand tracks - none with embedded cover art. But all of them are in a folder with a folder.jpg image.

    This is probably a wish for "All Models". All being actively supported/updated that is. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

    +1 for your request. Hopefully one day before they dump support for your model WD will add this feature. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
