I bought the LivePlus box and it's working fine except when I try to stream Netflix. I have no trouble viewing video from a USB hard drive; only Netflix is a problem. About once in a half-hour show, the audio stops working, there are some popping sounds and some static noise. The video plays the whole time, but the audio stops for about three to five seconds and then picks back up again. If I back up and watch the same scene, it's fine.

Because Netflix can also stream through my DVD player, I tried that, and every show streams fine. So I bought a second WDTV LivePlus box and tried that out. This new box also makes the loud popping sounds when I stream. Is this a known problem for Netflix users? Is this a problem with software that will be patched with a future upgrade? I can use the DVD player as a workaround, but the WDTV box is a more flexible solution and I'd prefer to use that for video streaming.

I also agree with the others. I have been using my WDTV Live Plus with no problems at all and have it on a wired Ethernet with Gigabit and Cat6, so I know it is not the connection.. I did the latest Firmware Upgrade and now Netflix makes squealing and popping noise periodically. All my other AVI's play fine during streaming from my Server.

It is only with Netflix and caused by the new Firmware. I really regret this purchase! I would think after 3 months of ownership it would get better?... like having an updated Netflix App that can do Searches, a Simple Browser, etc.. Instead this just gets worse and adds bugs. It is no wonder most folks use "unofficial firmware". The Logitech Revue Google TV is far superior and so is the Roku.

EDIT: For the record, I did a Rollback today to 1.04.18_B and Netflix works again. Thanks WD for the hassle! Great to know you are on top of things. It is bad enough that Upgrades/New Firmware come so few and far between, even worse that they basically offer absolutely nothing but alleged Bug fixes, but outright repulsive that THEY CAUSE MORE ISSUES THAN THE PREVIOUS FIRMWARE !

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Guess I won't be subscribing to NetFlix...I'll wait until it's second or third generation!
