I can't even begin to tell anyone how useful reading a PDF on my big screen would be.

+1, but I don't know if licenses from Adobe will be required etc. Till then, just see if you can extract the images from the PDF, or convert the text to images using a converter.

P.S. As for WDLXTV, seems it might not be (immediately) possible, as mentioned here.

Ah nifty, but I'm not into the homebrew stuff or 3rd party firmware for the WDTV yet as the current interface and features suffice for me and my family. And keeping the interface the same for everyone from room to room is half the beauty of the setup, although PDF support might entice me to make the jump. I think if I were to use 3rd party stuff I'd want to be involved with the project as well (code and/or design) and I don't have time for that now. Firmware releases are trending to be more and more buggy, so maybe it'll be something I tackle in the future. I had completely hacked and reworked the GoVideo D2740 (also nix-based) about 5 years ago, but ran into limitations with the hardware and better options had become available. I'm just rambling at this point, but I'd definitely get involved if I ever got fed-up with the default WDTV firmware for whatever reason(s).

@Trendecide: Any time you decide to go for it, I'm sure there'll be a bunch of eager users waiting to see if their favourite feature request makes it! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

there is a beta version of optware out for the live, not sure if it works on the live plus or not..
you may be able to install something with it, I haven't looked into it yet myself.

it may be worth looking into and following though

the thread and info is here: http://forum.wdlxtv.com/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=2637
