I bought a WDTV Live about two weeks ago in conjuction with setting up Mediaportal on an old desktop that has a TV capture card. Originally, the ATSC recorded programs (HDTV) played well on the WDTV Live when the files (TS with MPEG2 compression) were resident on a USB flash drive or a WD external hard drive.

After spending a few days wiring the house with LAN connections, I was able to get these videos to play properly over the network via folder sharing on an XP machine. After several firmware updates I started having issues playing back these TS files on the WDTV....I thought it was a network issue as the video would slow down to a crawl after losing audio about 20 seconds into the file. If I paused the video and then restarted it, the video would play normally again for 15 seconds and than start to slow down again.

Trying to troubleshoot I transferred the file to a USB drive and played it again on the WDTV Live and still have the same issue. I converted the file to a straight MPG and do not see the issue. I rolled the firmware from 1.04.17 back to 1.03.43 based on some other issues reported in this forum....no luck. I am still having issues playing back TS files. Other formats appear to work great.

    Any suggestions?

FYI: I am on firmware 1.03.49_V on my WDTV live and can successfully play m2ts files as well as recorded tv (that was recorded with another device Humax 5050C from my TV cable operator) in .ts format.

Last night I followed the procedure recommended ob another post that required a "Restore to Fatory Defaults" action pre and post firmware installation. This has appeared to correct my problems...I can now strem TS files without any issues.

Unfortunately, even with the roll back of firmware, the issue has started again. Any reccomendations on this problem. If I can't figure it out soon, this unit will have to be returned.

    Hi Adbor44,
I just recently set up MediaPortal on my desktop and got that working smoothly. This last weekend, I bought the WD TV Live Plus and I am having the exact same problem you describe. I will be taking the unit back next weekend If I can't get this figured out.

Did you have any luck in resolving the problem? If not, did you switch to a different device that could play the TS files? I would appreciate any information you have. Thanks, Gene.
