I have had my WD HD live for over a year now no problem while using my 2TB WD My book Elite.
I recently transferred some movies and TV shows over to MY Passport Essential SE 750GB... On the computer. Everything works fine. When I plug in the Passport into the WD HD media player. The audio skips bad. has a raspy crackling noise as if its skipping. When i plug back in my My Book Elite, Everything works perfectly. Im confused on what is going on? The FW is 1.01.02 ( i have never upgraded it) I dont see why my passport wont play audio correctly but the my book plays perfectly. Same VIDEOs |

most likely because it's a USB bus powered drive, they are not recommended due to their high power requirements / draw from the WDTV media players.

Trying to understand it a lil.
But with Both being connected via USB. why wouldnt the My Book cause the same problem? I never seen the requirements for a WD HD player... i never knew it was limited to what could play on it. |

does your 2TB my book elite drive have it's own power supply?
I know the Passport Essential series are USB bus powered, the wdtv can't provide enough power to properly run those drives. they will tell you it can but to many have the same complaint for me to believe them, all you will do is burn up the media player. |
