I have 2nd Gen WD TV HD Media Player, firmware v.1.01.77, HDMI to Plasma.
Sometimes during playback of some movies (audio is generally - AC3) all audio disappears for few seconds (from 5-10). It's like it being muted for no reason. Any help is much appreciated. |

Does it happen at the same time whenever you play a particular movie with this problem? Does it happen with another HDMI cable, or with a different connection (component etc.)?

Regarding moment of disappearance: each time is different. It can mute few times during short series, but can play perfect during long movie. I wasn't watching lots of times of the same movie. But Avatar was played few times. Each time was different.
Regarding cable: This idea is interesting. I'll give it a try. Previously I owned Gen 1 WD and was using different HDMI. Everything was fine. Reverting after HDMI replacement test. |

Sound problem happens to all files I've been playing lately. I'm usually using *.avi and *.mkv video files.
All same video files was tested on my PC, all worked well. Tried to use different HDMI cable/port, same problem. Presently I'm playing all on WD TV Media player Gen 2. Before this one I owned Gen 1, but it was replaced by local warranty service because one of usb ports was dead. It happened 1 month before end of warranty period. New Gen 2 player lasted not much longer 9 months and it is started to make those jokes. |
