So I have had a 1st Generation WDTV for a year or two now. I bought it before the live plus or even live was released.
My question is, besides netflix, why would I want to upgrade to a live +? With B-rad's firmware my device is networked and it is pretty stable, with bittorrent and RSS i automatically get the newest tv shows. I really don't care about getting youTube on my device but I suppose that would be a positive (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ... Obviously it is probably a bit faster (the interface) Anyhow, netflix is the only feature I really see as being a major positive that I can't get access to now. Is there anything else? Thanks for the help! Roman |

it's way faster for sure, I didn't know how much faster until I started using it myself.
I have a 1st gen, live and a live +. not big on netflix so I haven't even tried it. (varying reports on whether it works here in Canada or not) as for why, mainly the plugins and customization you can do to it. almost everything is configurable via the web frontend. I made my own daily podcasts file with about 30 streaming video feeds and 15 or so audio feeds from CBC radio 1. other addons / plugins for other custom channels (online), weather, RSS feeds. networking is way easier, mounting of shares is easy, I think it can be done via the web frontend also.. networking has more features and functions.. don't get me wrong, my first gen WDTV still has a huge place in my heart and mind but the newer flavors are better. oh and my live plus is running the live root.bin so it's essentially a live and not a live plus. |
