What is the difference between the European (pal) first gen player and the US (ntsc) first gen player? Does the pal player not support the video resolution of the video its playing? Are there any pros or cons between the two? I am asking because the WDAVP00BE models are cheaper.
Thank You This is indeed my first post |

I have the PAL version and it plays NTSC video fine (might depend upon your connections and TV as well). In the Video menu though it only shows PAL and doesn't allow me to change the setting, so I guess it auto-detects based on the TV it's connected to via HDMI. The Live and later versions can switch between PAL and NTSC modes via the reset button (see manual for more). However, the Gen. 1's manual makes no mention of a similar feature, and I haven't tried it TBH for fear of messing something up that works fine already.
