My wdtv live continously scrolls through the menu and will not stop when pushing the up and down buttons on the remote. I have removed power and also used the reset (with a paper clip. Have also used the menu to reset to factory defaults. No success. If I push enter the scrolling stops, only to start again when I push up or down button again. Have also installed new batteries in the remote and tried a different remote. Any sugestions?

Are you sure you didn't keep the reset button pressed for too long? More than 10s or so will switch between NTSC and PAL, which may cause issues with your TV, so try doing it again to switch back.

If the reset button doesn't work, try a FW upgrade/downgrade (see Tutorials section for more).

Thanks, I pressed the reset button for less tha 4 seconds, which I believe I had read some where, was recommended. Strangely enough, when I returned home from work yesterday, the unit was working fine. I really don't understand it. Contacted wd and even they had no answer. Would be great to understand and solve this problem I have read that others have had the same problem.

I have had the same problem with my WDTV generation 1 tonight for the first time. The menus scroll continuously in the direction you press. When you press enter the selection will still be made but it is very hard to get the selection you want with the menus scrolling like that. When you get to the level of the actual video files, the scrolling is very fast so it is hard to get the one you want. I just tried updating the firm ware and resetting to factory settings via the settings menu, but it is still scrolling uncontrollably. I put new batteries in my remote tonight too. It was working fine last night.

I have turned off at the power point, I am hoping it will cool down over night and be working again as seems to have occured with NORVELLA. This is the first time anything at all has gone wrong with the unit. It is a great device otherwise and I would recommend it completely. I am really mystified why it is doing this.
